Dancing with CHIC

In late March, although I could not have a strong feeling of the early spring in Beijing, three textile industrial professional exhibition fairs during this short period really shone the dull cold weather: yarn, fabrics, clothing, seems to weaving a colorful dream for your eyes and minds.

The 17th China International Clothing and Accessories Fair (CHIC 2009), co-organized by China national Garment Association, China World Trade Center Co., Ltd and the Sub-council of Textile Industry CCPIT, ended successfully on March 29th at the new China International Exhibition Center (New CIEC). Eight exhibition halls with a total area of 100,000 square meters, 20 types of garments were displayed in 10 sections (including men's wear, women's wearcasual wear, kid's wear, leather and fur, down wear, accessories, creation design and fashion), more than 800 brands from 21 countries and regions (including Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Finland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the United States, Canada, Australia, Lebanon, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, India, Pakistan, as well as the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), nearly 100,000 visitors, the four days exhibition once again proved itself to be one of the most important and attractive clothing fairs in China, and also the charm of domestic Chinese market signiicantly.

Brands Feast

In eight exhibition halls, there are two for overseas pavilions, representing an increase of the foreign brands in the CHIC fairs. The overseas pavilions mainly consisted of the exhibition representatives from France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and so on.

The enterprises of French pavilion were from famous Paris shows "Who's Next" and "Premiere Class".

The Italian Trade Commission (ICE) organized a pavilion of more than 30 companies and 40 brands to take part in the CHIC 2009, ranging from men's wear, women's wear and accessories. As the largest oversea exhibitor, the 1000 square meter Italian pavilion has been part of CHIC for seven consecutive years, which shows the importance of the Chinese market to Italy, said Antonino Laspina, ICE trade commissioner and coordinator.

The Japanese pavilion a Japan Fashion Fair in Beijing gathered 21enterprises to exhibit their products in a total exhibition area of 1,011 square meters, including Onward Kashiyama Co., Ltd, ITOKIN Co., Ltd, SANYO SHOKAI Ltd, and so on.

The Style Hong Kong Pavilion, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development council, once again became the largest overseas pavilion during this CHIC fair, with famous brands like "Skechers" "Guy Laroche" and "OLYMPetc". Besides, the Hong Kong Pavilion also carried out several activities and fashion shows, such as "Brands Management& Interior Design" Seminar,"BYPAC Fashion Show", in orde to make the visitors have a better communication with the brands from Hong Kong.

The Taiwan Pavilion with the theme "Infinite Romance, Wild Safari, American Dream", gathered more than 10 famous Taiwan  enterprises, including casual wear, women's wear, men's wear, sport wear and so on.

In addition to the pavilions from countries and regions, famous brands, such as American Disney, Christopher Fischer, Calvin Klein Collection, Italian Valentino, French Montagut, etc., also participated the CHIC fair as individual exhibitors.

Furthermore, the other six exhibition halls were preparing for domestic enterprises, which were divided into women's wear, leather& fur, casual wear, men's wear, kid'wear and fashion accessories.

With the development of China's apparel industry and maturation of China's Apparel market, CHIC has already grown into an international platform for both domestic and overseas clothing brands to seek opportunities. This time, most domestic Chinese brands are well-prepared to look forward commercial cooperation in overseas market, such as the Jiangsu Hubao Group, Jihua Light Industry Group, Smart Garment, and so on.

As most textile industrial insiders believed that, CHIC is a sign or a trend direction for the whole industry, especially during such an economic special period, domestic garment enterprises want to seek development strategy and opportunities, and also express their confidence to the overseas world through the CHIC fair.

Events and Fashion Show

Besides the exhibition, a number of related events also were held during the 17th CHIC fairs: the release of China's garments brands, such as "O.C.T mami" Spring Summer 2009 Fashion Show, Fashio Shenzhen-2009 Fashion Show, 2009 "ROMA" High Quality Men's Wear Press Show, Double Face. Impression-ALT 09 Fall New Products Show; the 2007-2008 China National Garment Association Awards Gala, the 09/10 A/W China Fashion Trends Release, the Joint Annual Convention of China Apparel Distributors and Retailers, the 2009 China Fashion Forum and some seminars, such as "CHIC 2009 International Clothing Retailing Industry Summit", "Application and Service Presentation for Networ Products of Garment Platform", and so on.

CHIC boasts a history of 17 years. Presently, it is leading China's garment companies to enter a new development era.
