60 Years' Impression

    It has been 60 years since foundation of the People's Republic of China. The 60 years of China's Textile Industry are really complicated and brilliant. These 60 years, China has experienced a huge transformation, from short supply of textile and apparel to nowadays big country of it.

    Facing the tough time of economic crisis, China's textile and apparel industry has been carrying out adjustment and renovation in time. How to enhance independent and creative capacity, upgrade technology, and improve brands' influence, to explore a new industrialized road and achieve the goal of being a strong country of textile by 2020 as well, it still has a long way to go.

 

    But once when we look back the history, we will find proud and inspiration of China's textile industry.

 

Organ Transformation

Foundation of Textile Industry Ministry

On November 1st, 1949, Textile Industry Ministry set up officially, Zengshan was the first minister.

 

Light Industry Ministry

On July 1st, 1970, original First Light Industry Ministry, Second Light Industry Ministry and Textile Industry Ministry were united as Light Industry Ministry, Qian Zhiguang was the minister.

 

Textile Industry Ministry

On January 1st, 1978, primary Light Industry Ministry was divided into Textile Industry Ministry and Light Industry Ministry, Qian Zhiguang was the minister of Textile Industry Ministry.

 

China General Textile Association

On June 21st, 1993, China General Textile Association was founded, which was direct under the direction of the State Council P. R. China, aimed to take charge of the whole national textile industry.

 

National Textile Industrial Bureau

In April, 1998, National Textile Industrial Bureau came into existence, Du Yuzhou assumed the director general.

 

China National Textile and Apparel Council

On September 30th, 1998, China National Textile and Apparel Council was established, as a nonprofit social organization.

On February 19th, 2001, National Textile Industrial Bureau was abrogated. CNTAC has being responsible for the management and intendance for the whole national Textile industry.

 

System perfection

Rayon

On April 29th, 1950, Shanghai Lok rayon mill went into operation in the approach of joint venture. And one year later, spinning success became China's first Production of artificial silk.

 

Linen

On July 1st, 1950, Harbin Linen Textile Mill, with the help of USSR designing and providing equipments, started building, and that made Chinese industry of linen textile not a blank any more.

 

Sacks

On February 14th, 1951, the Ministry of Textile Industry made a uniform provision of Standard sacks to Compatible with the limited materials in the National Sacks Production Conference.

 

Viscose fiber length of the wire

In January 1961, the Equipment Systems of Viscose fiber length of the wire had been first manufactured successfully, and then, they were put into operation in Shanghai Anda chemical fiber factory. Later, the first Series of factories with made-in-china Equipments started building in succession, such as Nanjing Chemical Fiber Factory, Xinxiang Chemical Fiber Factory, Hangzhou Chemical Fiber Factory, and Jilin Chemical Fiber Factory.

 

Synthetic Fiber

On January 7th, 1970, Ministry of Light Industry, together with Ministry of Fuel and Chemical Industries, reported that Comprehensive utilization of oil resources should focus on developing synthetic rubber, synthetic fiber, and synthetic plastics.

 

Ten Industries

On July 5th, 1984, "Economic Daily" published an article named "China's textile industry has formed a complete system of rational layout and comprehensive development", which pointed out that China's textile industry had formed a complete industrial system with a reasonable layout, Ten all-round development industries of cotton, wool, hemp, silk, chemical fiber, copy, knitting, dyeing, textile machinery, textile equipment, and almost all of the raw materials and equipments being domestic.

 

Specialized Market Organizations Confederation of China National Textile and Apparel (SMOC CNTA in brief)

On January 19th, 2007, Specialized Market Organizations Confederation of China National Textile and Apparel (SMOC CNTA in brief) was established. The Alliance played a role of help promote the integration of the industry's resources structure, and the research and innovation of a new business model.

 

Down Garment Technical Committee 

On August 11th, 2008, Subcommittee on Down Garments of National Technical Committee on Garments of Standardization Administration of China was established in BOSIDENG Co., LTD. And this was not only the perfection of China's clothing system, but also a symbol that BOSIDENG officially became the leader of national standard of down clothing.

 

Infrastructure Construction

First woolen mills

In 1951, the first woolen mills with China's own design and construction, and formation of domestically-manufactured equipments started building, such as Qinghai Woolen Mill, Huhhot Second Woolen Mill, Lanzhou First Woolen Mill and Shanxi First Woolen Mill.

 

Zhuzhou ramie textile mill

In December 1956, China's first modern textile mill of the ramie-Hunan Zhuzhou Ramie textile mill started building and it was completed and went into operation in March 1958.

 

"Third Line" construction

In 1964, the Ministry of Textile Industry organized forces from "Third Line" construction site and built six new textile machinery plants and professional parts factories.

 

Nyingchi woolen mill

On May 4th, 1966, Shanghai Wai-lun woolen mill moved to Tibet, and converted into Linzhi woolen mill. This is the first modern textile mill in Tibet. 

 

Hubei Chemical fiber factory

In May 1969, Hubei Chemical Fiber Factory started building, and in 1973, it went into operation. This was the first large factory specializing in the production of strength viscose cord fabrics.

 

Lanzhou third woolen mill

On May 25th, 1976, the People's Daily reported that the largest wool textile mill in the China's Northwest - Lanzhou third woolen mill went into operation.

 

Xiangzhou Woolen Mill

On November 7th, 1978, Chao Kuang-piu, one of the Hong Kong entrepreneurs, established the first " Three-plus-one" trading-mix enterprise (custom manufacturing with materials, designs or samples supplied and compensation trade) - Xiangzhou woolen mill in Zhuhai.

 

Sichuan Vinylon Works

On May 19th, 1983, China's first large-scale chemical fiber joint venture with natural gas as raw material raw material- Sichuan Vinylon Factory was formally accepted by the State.

 

Shandong Zibo Synthetic Fiber Factory

On December 8th, 1984, China's first Acrylic-turning-spinning production line with annual output of 4,000 tons, got through of appraisal and was officially put into production in the Synthetic Fiber Plant of Shandong Zibo recently.

 

Yizheng Chemical Fiber Industrial Corporation

On November 12th, 1990, Yizheng Chemical Fiber Industrial Corporation ,the enterprises directly under the Ministry of Textile Industry , fully went into operation, and became the large chemical fiber backbone enterprise of annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of polyester.

 

China Huayuan Industrial Co., Ltd.

On July 18th, 1992, China Huayuan Industrial Co., Ltd, sponsored by the ministry of textile industry, was formally established in Shanghai.

 

Huacheng Group Corporation

On November 6th, 1992, Huacheng Group Corporation was founded in Beijing. It was the first large-scale industrial group company with the leading of financial capital approved by the State Economics and Trade Committee. The establishment of this corporation is a new attempt on the reform of financial system.

 

Science and Technology

Hao Jianxiu working procedure

In August 1951, Hao Jianxiu from the Sixth Qingdao State Cotton Factory had produced 0.3 kilogram roller lap per day since the production competition began in May 1950, and the production of roller lap was reduced to 0.225 kilogram per day since March 1951. Therefore, Ministry of Textile Industrial issued the "Instruction of carrying out Hao Jianxiu working procedure universally", and it ignited the climax of studying Hao Jianxiu working procedure nationally.

 

951 Waving Procedure

In November 1st ~ 21st, 1951, Ministry of Textile Industry and National Textile Trade Union co-organized the National Waving Procedure Conference in Tianjin, and 951 Waving Procedure was summarized. It concentrates the advanced waving experience from Qingdao, Shanghai, Tianjin, Northeast Area, etc and is summarized through more than 20 days of performance, observation, measurement, analysis and discussion.

 

Automatic silk screen printing machine

On September 21st, 1966, the People's Daily reported that in Jiangsu province, workers of Wuxi Silk Printing and Dyeing Mill created automatic silk screen printing machine and accessories successfully, which made China's silk printing industry get rid of heavy manual operation.

Automation and semi-automation of sweater production

On July 15th, 1974, the People's Daily reported that sweater production realized automation and semi-automation, which reduced the intensity of labor, improved the working ability, and opened up a broad prospect of raising labor productivity greatly.

 

Large-scale production of polypropylene fiber silk

On July 8th, 1983, the production department with annual output of 1,000 tons polypropylene fiber silk was constructed and put into operation in Guangdong Xinhui synthetic fiber textile mill. This is currently the largest polypropylene fiber silk production workshop, and the equipments used are manufactured in China.

 

Large sets producing equipments of Polyester staple fiber

On April 2nd, 1986, the large sets producing equipments of Polyester staple fiber, with annual output of 15,000 tons, was developed successfully and got through the appraisal. Therefore, China entered a new period of chemical fiber industry with large domestic sets of chemical fiber equipments.

 

Wool-like chemical fiber process technology

On February 1st, 2002, at the National Science and Technology Awards Conference, Chinese wool-like chemical fiber process technology won the fist prize of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award. "Wool-like chemical fiber" imitates wool on the shape and performance and makes wool replaced by synthetic fiber. Garment material weaved using wool-like chemical fiber not only has the wool fabric style and feeling, but also has the features of wicking and moisture management, iron-free, washable, and low cost. It is the ideal fabric for making a new generation service uniform and business uniforms, and has been exported to America, Italy, Chile, Turkey, North Korea and other countries.

 

Plant protein fibers

On April 1st, 2003, the first phase of 9,000 tons fiber production line was completed and put into operation in Jianghe Tianrongsi Fiber Co. LTD in Changshu. It had capacity of daily supply of 300 thousand tons of cotton and wool-like soybean protein fibers. This is the only soybean protein fiber DWT project using original technology in application fiber domain, which marks China's industrialization process of the industry of making plant silk as the fiber materials have walked in the forefront of the world.

 

National textile science & technology award

On October 13th, 2004, China National Textile and Apparel Council held the National Textile Science & Technology Conference in Beijing for the first time. Du Yuzhou, chairman of China National Textile and Apparel Council, made a speech entitled "We must accelerate the progress of textile science and technology, and endeavor to make our textile industry stronger early". According to" development outlines of the progress of textile scientific and technological", he proposed the guidelines and developing goals of textile scientific and technological progress. All of these made clear orientation and guidelines for the 28 key technologies and ten new equipments to be tackled in textile industry in the following period. National textile science & technology award will promote textile industry to utilize new technologies, optimize industrial structure, improve the innovative capability, and enhance the enterprises' competitiveness.

 

The first genetic map of the silkworm

On November 6th, 2005, the 2005 award ceremony of Sang Ma Trust Fund, aiming at supporting and promoting progress of the textile cause of scientific and technological education, took place in Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. The first genetic map of the silkworm won the first Sang Ma textile scientific and technological Award.

 

Research on the system integration of viscose staple fiber project with annual output of 45,000 tons

On February 27th, 2007, National Science & Technology Awards Conference was held in Beijing. In the textile industry, there were five projects that won the 2006 National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, and "Research on the system integration of viscose staple fiber project with annual output of 45,000 tons" got the first prize, and three other achievements won the second prizes.

 

Speedy Short Flow Imbedded Spinning Process

On February 17th, 2009, the "speedy short flow imbedded spinning process" project, undertaken by Shandong Ruyi Technology Group Co., Ltd., Wuhan University of Science and Engineering and Xi'an Polytechnic University, passed expert appraisal. It was considered that the technology was a major original technology, and it's the techniques and theoretical breakthrough for the traditional spinning. The overall technology had reached the international advanced level and filled the domestic gaps, and the application would promote the technological progress and products upgrading greatly in China textile industry. Du Yuzhou, chairman of China National Textile and Apparel Council, praised that it was a revolutionary breakthrough for the traditional spinning. At present, "speedy short flow imbedded spinning process" has obtained the prize of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology and has been applied popularly in the national textile system.

 

 

Management innovation

Cotton quality inspection system

During August 21st~September 4th, 1950, in the National Cotton Quality Inspection Conference, Ministry of Textile Industry studied out the list of price difference of different quality according to the "good cotton, high price" policy, formulated the unified national examination methods and standards, and decided to establish quality inspection institutions everywhere. It would help to prevent skullduggery and improve the quality of cotton.

 

The system of 8 level wages

On October 10th, 1951, Ministry of Textile Industry announced "the scheme of adjusting wages system of cotton textile workers". Time workers implemented the system of 8 level wages and piece workers implemented unlimited piece rate system.

 

Supply and Marketing

In March 1952, Ministry of Textile Industry and Trade Department jointly issued a paper of "supply and marketing methods of cotton yarn and cloth in 1952", which formulated that the relationship between Trade Department and the State Cotton Mill had been no longer processing but supplying and marketing since 1952.

 

The system of working in three shifts of eight hours

According to the "Decision on Labor Employment Problem", issued by Government Administration Council, Qingdao Branch of Textile Management developed "The system of working in three shifts of eight hours" to solve the problem of excess labor force in cotton mill, and got a great social reflection.

On September 12th, 1952, Ministry of Textile Industry gave a report to central government on "working in three shifts of eight hours in textile system" and got the approval.

 

Cloth coupon

In 1953, due to a shortage of cotton, grain and other materials, the entire country implemented the planned economy, and the cloth coupon generated in the commodity shortages situation. Cloth coupon and bat wool coupon were not required until the Ministry of Commerce gave the announcement on December 1st, 1984. This was an important symbol of textile industry meeting domestic demand, turning to export and developing rapidly.

 

Four groups working in three shifts

On October 4th, 1979, Ministry of Textile Industry and State Labor Bureau jointly issued a paper of "Suggestion on textile mill carrying out four groups working in three shifts" to each Textile Industry Bureau and Labor Bureau of provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions. They also verified the target of incoming labor force and the plan of carrying out "four groups working in three shifts" in the first batch of textile mills.

 Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center

In January 1988, the quality supervision and inspection centers of textile product of 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions (excluding Tibet, Hainan) were established.

 

Industry cluster trial

In 2002, China National Textile and Apparel Council started the work of textile industry cluster trial, which was mainly about the regional economy of district towns and put promoting industrial upgrading as the core content. The first choice of 38 counties and towns became pilot areas and to the present it had been 145. In these areas, there were 17 million enterprises and 800 million employees (basically all migrant Farmers), and its Textiles account was more than 40% of total economic output. Textile industry cluster makes a positive contribution on the development of both China's textile industry and local economic.

 

China National Cotton Reserves Corporation

On March 28th, 2003, the China National Cotton Reserves Corporation, approved by the State Council, was formally established in Beijing.

 

Export licensing system,

On February 23rd, 2004, the United States began Implementation of the quota restrictions of 7.5% on the imports of Chinese bras, knitted fabrics, dressing gowns and other textiles, and this would last for one year. For this, China began to implement the export licensing system on the relevant domestic textile enterprises.

 

Social Responsibility Promotion Committee

On May 31st, 2005, Joint with more than 160 key enterprises of the textile, China National Textile and Apparel Council issued the initiative that we should strengthen the building of social responsibility in the entire industry, and actively promote the implementation of the "Social Responsibility Management System of China Textile Corporate CSC9000T".

                                         

 

Policies and regulations

Chemical-fiber development plan

On August 23rd, 1960, the committee of China's communist party of China textile industry reported an article named "Requests for instructions on the development policy of the textile industry "to the central party.

In the report, the policy on the future development of textile industry, namely implementing the simultaneous development of both natural and chemical fiber, both home and wild miscellaneous fiber, both professional production and diversified economy, both increasing revenue and reducing expenditure on the raw materials, was proper and necessary, and we should adopt some required measures and carry out seriously. In the following long period, the guideline would be an important policy in the textile industry, especially on developing chemical fiber. 

 

Seventy rules of the industry

On November 10th, 1961, under the guidelines of the Eight-word policy with "adjustment, consolidation, enrichment, improvement" and working regulations on the state-owned industrial enterprises (namely Seventy rules of the industry), the textile industry made an industrial rectification and formed a set of textile industrial system with Chinese characteristics.

 

Allocating the clothing to the ministry of the textile industry

On November 29th, 1986, the General Office of the State Council made an announcement of allocating the clothing to the ministry of the textile industry and implementing the industrial management, which marked that the clothing industry was formally allocated to the ministry of the textile industry

 

"Six priorities"

On January 8th, 1980, the State decided to implement the principle of "six priorities" on the light textile industry to ensure a quick pace of its development. "Six priorities" meant the supplying priority of raw materials, fuel, and electric power, the measurements priority of tapping potential, innovation, and reconstruction, the capital construction priority, the bank loans priority, the priority of foreign exchange and the introduction of new technology, and the transportation priority.

 

Textile machinery production managed by the ministry of textile industry

On July 11th, 1982, the production of the textile machinery was put under centralized management by the textile industry.

 

Decentralizing seven permissions

On August 21st, 1984, the textile industry issued a notice on further decentralizing seven permissions. The seven permissions decentralized were as follows:  (1) Reducing the target of the mandatory plans and expanding the guidance target and the range of the market regulation. (2) Transferring the examination and approval authority of small scale construction projects to local authorities. (3) Decentralizing the management of the formulation and appraisal of quality indicators to local. (4) Reforming the examination and approval authority of the technical renovation programs. (5) Reforming the administration authority of the technology introduction and the project of combining technique and trade. (6) Reforming the administration authority of the project on scientific research. (7) Implementing special policy on the special economic zones, fourteen open cities and Hainan Island.

 

Compensatory contract system

On September 28th, 1984, the textile scientific research institute of the textile industry carried out the pilot reform of turning the operating expense to the compensatory contract system.

 

Earning foreign exchange through increasing export

In October 1986, the State Council convened the one hundred and twenty-first Standing Conference. The seminar was specializing on expanding the export of the textiles and promoting the textile industry. It pointed out that since China textiles were important for earning foreign exchange through increasing export in the next period, we must take effective measures to solve the difficulties in textile industry and develop the exports of textiles as soon as possible. In order to solve the difficulties in the textile industry, the State made a decision that all textile enterprises in the nation shall be exempted from regulation taxes. The final products of cotton textiles and knitted and cotton goods sold in the markets would all implement the policy of "good quality, high price" and "different designs or colors, different prices" Textile production workers to a comprehensive new post salary. Besides, a new post wage system should be carried out in an all-round way to the workers at the production line.

 

Compressing and eliminating the fall behind knitting spindles

On December 25th, 1990, the textile industry issued a notice of the plan on compressing and eliminating the fall behind knitting spindle, which decided that 1,000,000 knitting spindles would be compressed and eliminated in 1992, the same as the year of 1993 and 1994.

 

"Set tasks"

On January 23rd,1998, to ensure that 10 million fall behind knitting spindles could be compressed and eliminated in three years, the national work of Compressing and eliminating the fall behind knitting spindles started in Shanghai.

 

Turning from deficits to profit

On December 31st, 1999, according to the latest statistics from the national textile institute, the reform of the state-owned enterprises in textile industry had basically realized the three targets, a year ahead of schedule than expected. To the end of the 1999, there were 9.06 million pounds of fall behind knitting spindles compressed, which overfulfilled the preplanned mission. The loss situation of six years turned into the industry profit of 8 million Yuan, and 116 million laid-off workers got job now.

 

The new labor contract law

On January 1st, 2008, the new labor contract law was carried out, which placed extra emphasis on labor protection.

 

"The six policies of the state"

On November 9th, 2008, affected by the metabolic economic situation of both domestic and international, the development of the textile industry ran into an unprecedented severe situation and the State Council approved for six policies on promoting the healthy development of the light textile industry, which would further reduce the tax burden of enterprises and would raise the export rebate rate of the textiles, clothing, and some light industrial products. Among them, the export rebate rate of the textile and clothing products raised by14%, which had played a positive role for enterprises pulling through.

 

The adjustment and promotion plan of the textile industry

 On February 4th, 2009, the State Council deliberated on the paper of the adjustment and promotion plan of the textile industry and got approval for it in principle. The plan last for three years and it stressed that to accelerate the promotion of the textile industry, we must impel the structure adjustment and industrial upgrade, and put the importance on independent innovation, technological transformation, eliminating the fall behinds and optimizing the distribution which was concerned by the new labor law. It explicitly pointed out that China's national textile industry, with the international competitive edge, was the traditional and mainstay industry in the national economy and also important for the people's livelihood. Besides, it played an important role on the aspects of prospering markets, expanding exports, creating jobs, increasing the income of peasants, promoting the urbanization development, etc. All of these laid a foundation for promoting China's textile industry from large to strong and had a far-reaching significance. At the same time, the export rebate rate of textile clothing raised by from 14% to 15% and it was up to 16% on April 1st.

 

                    Harmonious Culture

The collective contract

On October 10th, 1953, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China agreed that the Ministry of Textile Industry and the National Textile Trade Union could co-issue the joint instruction of signing the collective contract in the state-owned factories. The joint instruction indicated that to improve the workers' class consciousness and enthusiasm for production, to fulfill and overfulfill the state plan, to impel the plant management and the union work, and to improve the workers' material and cultural life designedly on the basis of increasing production, we would implement the system of both administration and trade union signing the collective contract in the state-owned factories and that would be a very important significance.

 

The white paper of China's textile

On April 9th, 2001, China National Textile and Apparel Council held the news conference on the 2001-2002 development report of China's textile industry in Beijing. This report was compiled by China National Textile and Apparel Council and it was the only research report which centralized to reflect the annual development trend of the textile industry and other industries.

 

Ten brand culture of China textile

On December 19th, 2005, ten textile enterprises, including BOSIDENG Co., LTD and Youngor Group Co., LTD, had got the honorary title of "Ten brand culture of China textile in 2005".

 

Reach & Touch

On Oct. 30th, 2007, China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) and more than ten sub-organizations related jointly organized the activity of "Reach &Touch "in Shanghai. It was the first national fashion event organized by the industry chain of textile and apparel together.

 

DICTIONARY OF TEXTILES

On Jan. 29th, 2007, the Launching Ceremony of "DICTIONARY OF TEXTILES" was held in Beijing. With more than ten thousand vocabularies covering various fields in textile industry, "DICTIONARY OF TEXTILES" provides standard terminology for communication in textile industry and connection with other economic fields.

 

China Top Brand

On Sept. 11th, 2007, the honoring ceremony of China top brand products and world top brand of

China products was held in Beijing. There were 856 products entitled "China Top Brand", and 142 products of them, which was 16.6 percents of total number, were from textile and garment industry,

 

 

Exhibition Development

Exhibition of Technological Revolutions in the National Textile Industry

During May 1st to June 30th, 1966, after more than half a year's preparation, the private view of the Exhibition of Technological Revolutions in the National Textile Industry was held on April 23rd in Shanghai China-Soviet Friendship building (now namely Shanghai Exhibition Center), and the exhibition was held formally on May 1st. The exhibition, collecting more than 11,000 projects about technological revolutionary, was the first large-scale one since the founding of Peoples' Republic of China, and more than 3100 projects were exhibited formally.

 

The First International Conference on Man-made Fiber

On Nov. 18th, 1985, the First International Conference on Man-made Fiber

was held in Beijing and would be held every two years. Nearly 300 representatives from 22 countries and regions participated in the conference.

 

The First China International Spinning Frame Exhibition

On July 8th, 1988, The First Exhibition of China International Spinning Frame was held in Beijing. The exhibition played an active role in promoting trade, making friends, international communication and market competition.

 

The First Fashion Festival

In Sept. 1988, the First Fashion Festival was held in Dalian and fashion culture came into our lives.

 

The 9th China International Clothing &Accessories Fair (CHIC)

On March 28th, 2001, the 9th China International Clothing &Accessories Fair (CHIC) and the 7th China International Trade fair for Apparel Fabrics and Accessories were held in Beijing.

 

The First China Textile and Apparel Trade Fair (German)

On Nov. 5th, 2006, the First China Textile and Apparel Trade Fair (German), sponsored by China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), jointly undertook by Textile Sub-Council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China Garment Association and Messe Karlsruhe, was ceremoniously opened in Germany Karlsruhe Congress Center.

 

Communication and Cooperation

Peier Cailar's Visit to China

In March 1979, the French famous fashion designer, Peier Cailar, was invited to visit China. A French fashion show was held in Beijing National Palace and it brought a fashion storm to China.

 

Trade Agreement with European Union

In July 1979, according to the principles of "Arrangement Regarding International Trade in Textiles", China and the EU's predecessor - the European Economic Community reached the agreements on textile trade, and made the arrangements for textile trade and its management system.

 

Cross-Strait Cooperation Seminar of Textile Industry

On Sept. 21st, 1992, "Cross-Strait Cooperation Seminar of Textile Industry" was held in Beijing. Cross-Strait textile industries began to cooperate, complement with each other and develop together, which played an active role in cross-strait co-operation and dialogue.

 

Global Textile Economic Forum

On March 29th, 2004, the first Global Textile Economic Forum, sponsored by China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), was held in Beijing with the tenet "Cooperation & Development" and the theme "Post-quota era: to create a win-win future". The forum specifically discussed the development trends of global textile economy and trade in the new stage of trade liberalization.

 

International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF)

On July 28th, 2008, China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) formally joined International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF). As China plays an increasingly important role in global textile industry, CNTAC is the only full member in mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, and fulfills the responsibilities representing country. The CNTAC's participation in ITMF, not only makes ITMF more representative and authoritative in the global textile industry, but also means the global recognition of Chinese textile industry

What was the evolution of fashion in China? What were people wearing, in which colors, during which decade?

It would be great to learn more about China fashion evolution and see photos of what they were wearing at that time sixty years ago.
